Organized by the private development organization SEIAM, the inauguration ceremony of “Healthy Bangladesh Journey” was held at the premises of the Khulna District Commissioner’s Office, under the slogan “We for the next generation, and on two wheels in hope of a healthy nation.”
The inauguration ceremony of the “Healthy Bangladesh Journey” was attended as the Chief Guest by Mr. Md. Firoz Sarkar, Honorable Divisional Commissioner of Khulna. The event was chaired by Mr. Md. Toufiqul Rahman, District Commissioner and learned District Magistrate of Khulna. Mr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Coordinator of the Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance, was present as a Special Guest.
The program was moderated by Advocate Md. Masum Billah, Executive Director of SEIAM. Other distinguished attendees included Asif Ahmed, Program Officer of the World Health Organization (WHO); Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, Divisional Coordinator of BELA (Khulna Division); Advocate Shamima Sultana Shilu, Executive Director of MASAS; journalist Mahbubur Rahman Munna, General Secretary of Nirapad Sarak Chai Andolon, Khulna Metropolitan; Abu Taher, General Secretary of Amra Brihattor Khulnabashi; along with officials and employees from various government and non-government organizations.
It is noteworthy that five volunteers of SEIAM will conduct a cross-country cycling campaign from Banglabandha (Panchagarh) to Inani (Cox’s Bazar), raising demands including the formation of a Health Promotion Foundation in Bangladesh, implementation of tobacco control laws, promotion of carbon-free transportation, adoption of healthy food habits, and protection of fields, parks, and water bodies.
This journey will be known as the “Healthy Bangladesh Journey.”
